Welcome to My Blog
A little about me:
My name is China. I’m a college journalism student and certified nurse assistant and I’m just in the fourth year of my journalism studies at Washtenaw. I’m in this class because I need to finish out my journalism associate’s degree. After that, I do plan to go to EMU to study nursing but I’m not sure yet. A church member told me I could be like some journalist nurse or something like that but I’m not sure about that yet either. A little more about me there are three very important aspects that play a major role in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at church with my church family. Whenever I am with my church members, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs.
Respecting Kobe and his game:
Sports impact numerous individuals everywhere throughout the world rather they play sports, watch sports or even both. Individuals can be impacted by professional athletes too. These same athletes may have done awful things in their professional career and/or personal life yet the fans despite everything admire them. A prime case of an athlete like this is Kobe Bryant professional basketball player. He is notable for his activities on and off the court. Despite the fact that Kobe may have not done some incredible things he is still very much regarded and respected ball players.
Kobe Bryant is known to be one of the hardest working players to have ever played in the NBA. In “champion of the world” by famous poet Maya Angelou she states he was the strongest man in the world referring to the famous boxer Joe Lewis. This quote relates to Kobe Bryant in that he is considered to be one of the greatest scores of all time was a total of 32,484 career points which makes him third on the scoring list. Something else that makes Kobe Bryant such a regarded moving player is that he played through injury. Kobe sprained his ankle. However, Kobe returned to the game and chose to play on a very sore ankle. That didn’t prevent Kobe from putting on a brilliant performance. Bad ankle and all, Kobe helped the Lakers win the greatest and most significant game. In spite of the fact that individuals appreciate and regard Kobe Bryant as a player he has done a few things that have placed him in a negative light. In the year 2004 Kobe Bryant was accused of sexually attacking a lady in Colorado. According to CBS News. Each time when the Lakers play the Denver nuggets in Denver the fans boo Kobe due to the act he committed. Despite the fact that what Kobe did wasn’t right his better half Vanessa Bryant remained close by. The entire body of evidence against him was later dismissed.
Sports have a great impact on many people in the world. Athletes have an even greater impact on their fans and all those that look up to them as role models. Athletes can also be inspiration to fans all over the world. Athletes may have made mistakes in their lives Kobe Bryant is a prime example of this. But he is one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
In an article I read in the New York Times. A sports fan, Claudio Cabrera who found Bryant very hard to cheer for during his basketball career wrestles with the pain, and regret, he feels after his death. He was saying that when he found out that he passed he just didn’t care and thought it was a joke. He was stating in the article that he looked like him and they were the same age but couldn’t relate to him because Kobe didn’t grow up like him. So Cabrera didn’t like him. He was also saying that he was a kid from the hood and he could smell that Kobe was a kid far from that. Cabrera stated that Kobe’s dad had played professional basketball in Italy. And then he went to a good high school on the outskirts of Philadelphia. “I recognized his talent, but I just didn’t get him as a person until he retired.” Sayed Cabrera Despite all the criticism he gave Kobe when he stepped out on the court he tried to play like him. “Love him or hate him, you understood his greatness.” Sayed Cabrera “I never hated Kobe, though I hated on him.” He also stated. His death shocked everyone into an unexpected pain, even him. “The hurt I felt that day made me aware of the grip he had on me and his impact on my life, no matter how I may have viewed him.” said Cabrera
Kobe started realizing that no matter how seriously we take sports us in the end, it’s all just a game. It’s time for some of us to realize that as well
Speculative Journalism
The problem with a lot of speculative journalism is that it’s speculated from within the writer’s own personal framework and bubble. I’ll take the old school real journalism, the kind where the journalist gets their hands dirty and actually talks to people and gets the story that’s there, not the one they’ve made up. The article outlined why I find myself reading less and less of the NYT and the Washington Post. Very many of the articles on politics or international relations are speculative, offering various alternatives as to what “might” happen rather than reporting on what did happen. I can think of alternatives by myself and rely on journalists to report on what happened.
